Office on Violence Against Women

The Transitional Housing program funds transitional housing and support services for victims who are homeless or in need of transitional housing or other housing assistance because of domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking (VAWA crimes). Eligible applicants are Tribal, state, and local governments and organizations with a documented history of effective work concerning VAWA crimes.

Office on Violence Against Women

This program reimburses Tribal governments for expenses incurred in exercising “Special Tribal Criminal Jurisdiction” (STCJ) over non-Indians who commit certain covered crimes (assault of Tribal justice personnel; child, dating, sexual and/or domestic violence; obstruction of justice; sex trafficking; stalking; and protection order violations) in Indian country pursuant to 25 U.S.C. § 1304 (or in Alaska Native Villages pursuant to a DOJ pilot program established by 25 U.S.C. § 1305(d)).

Bureau of Justice Assistance

This NOFO seeks applications for payments under the statutorily required State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) to eligible “states” and “units of local government” that incurred certain types of costs due to “incarceration” of “undocumented criminal aliens” during the July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024, reporting period. OJP is committed to advancing work that furthers DOJ’s mission to uphold the rule of law, to keep our country safe, and to protect civil rights. OJP provides federal leadership, funding, and other critical resources to directly support law enforcement, combat violent crime, protect American children, provide services to American crime victims, and address public safety challenges, including human trafficking and the opioid crisis.

Community Oriented Policing Services

This is a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) for the FY26 Technology and Equipment Program (TEP). This noncompetitive, invitational, funding opportunity provides funding to state, territorial, local, Tribal, and other entities designated under the heading “Community Oriented Policing Services, Technology and Equipment Community Projects / COPS Law Enforcement Technology and Equipment” in the Congressional Joint Explanatory Statement – Division C, which is incorporated by reference into Public Law 119-74, to develop and acquire effective law enforcement equipment, technologies and interoperable communications that assist in responding to and preventing crime and expand the implementation of community policing. Equipment funded under this program should meet any applicable requirements of the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Office of Law Enforcement Standards.

Office on Violence Against Women

The Justice for Families program supports activities to improve the response of the civil and criminal justice system to families with a history of domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, or in cases involving child sexual abuse. Activities should improve the capacity of courts and communities to respond to families through court-based and court-related programs; supervised visitation and safe exchange of children and youth by and between parents; training for people who work with families in the court system; and civil legal assistance and advocacy services to victims and nonoffending parents. Eligible applicants are Tribal, state, and local governments, courts, nonprofit organizations, legal services providers, and victim service providers.

Bureau of International Narcotics-Law Enforcement

This project will support the development of sustainable maritime legal capacity within the Philippine Office of the Solicitor General (OSG), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and other relevant agencies. Through technical training, legal advisory support, interagency coordination, and professional exchanges, the initiative aims to strengthen institutional expertise in maritime law, UNCLOS, arbitration, litigation strategy, and maritime case development. The project will support establishment of long-term training and knowledge-transfer mechanisms, including a multiyear training roadmap, Training-of-Trainers framework, and development of maritime legal reference materials. By building durable, in-house maritime legal expertise and strengthening rules-based approaches to maritime legal issues, the initiative supports regional stability, lawful commerce, and partner self-reliance in the Indo-Pacific.

Community Oriented Policing Services

The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) is the component of the U.S. Department of Justice responsible for advancing the practice of community policing and supporting the Administration’s priority of Making America Safe Again by the nation’s state, local, territorial and Tribal law enforcement agencies through information and grant resources. The purpose of CHP is to fund law enforcement agencies to hire and/or rehire additional career sworn law enforcement officers/deputies in an effort to increase their community policing capacity and crime prevention efforts. Anticipated outcomes of CHP awards include engagement in planned community partnerships, implementation of projects to analyze and assess problems, implementation of changes to personnel and agency management in support of community policing, and increased capacity of agency to engage in community policing activities.

Community Oriented Policing Services

The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) is the component of the U.S. Department of Justice responsible for advancing the practice of community policing and the Administration’s priority of Making America Safe Again by supporting the nation’s state, local, territorial and Tribal law enforcement agencies through information and grant resources. This is a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the FY26 COPS Anti-Heroin Task Force (AHTF) Program. This funding opportunity seeks to advance public safety by making competitive grants to state law enforcement agencies in states with high per capita rates of primary treatment admissions, for the purpose of locating or investigating illicit activities, through statewide collaboration, relating to the distribution of heroin, fentanyl, or carfentanil or relating to the unlawful distribution of prescription opioids. FY26 AHTF seeks to increase the number of hours devoted to statewide task forces, increase the number and variety of agencies participating in task forces, and enhance the analytical capability of task forces. As community policing is common sense policing, throughout the FY26 AHTF NOFO materials, the terms ‘community policing’ and ‘common sense policing’ are used interchangeably, unless otherwise specified. Allowable costs under FY26 AHTF include the following: • Salaries and fringe benefits for new, full-time sworn career law enforcement officer positions, including eligible rehired officers not supported in the local budget. Exception: in FY26, funding may be used for existing positions supported by prior AHTF awards. • Salaries and fringe benefits for civilian/non-sworn personnel not already in supported in the local budget. Examples include: • AHTF project coordinators • Anti-heroin/opioid/drug analysts • Travel/training costs to attend AHTF related training and technical assistance conferences, seminar, or classes, or to visit a site specified in the application. • Equipment, technology, and supplies directly linked to the enhancement or implementation of the AHTF project. • Procurement contracts and consultants to support the AHTF project. Other direct project costs such as: • Software and prepaid warranties or maintenance agreements (not to exceed 36 months) • Overtime costs for sworn officers and civilians engaging in AHTF-related investigative activities Note: AHTF funding is not available for treatment programs or prosecution of heroin, fentanyl, carfentanil, or other opioid-related activities. Office on Violence Against Women

The Rural Grant Program helps states and territories, Indian Tribes, local governments, and nonprofits to enhance safety and justice for child, youth, and adult victims in rural communities. It funds victim services (such as advocacy, legal assistance, and shelter), investigation, prosecution, adjudication, parole and probation, and other ways of addressing domestic and sexual violence. Per 34 U.S.C. § 12341(a), these grants are meant to encourage collaboration, establish and expand nonprofit victim services, increase safety and well-being for women and children in rural communities, and ensure victims in rural areas have access to sexual assault medical forensic exams.
