Washington State Housing Finance Commission (WSHFC) provides grants and financing for affordable housing development, community development, homelessness prevention, and housing rehabilitation in WA.

WAPI Community Services

API Youth Voices. Young Asian and Pacific Islanders will learn media literacy skills and how to use audio and video technology to engage their peers in conversations about social justice and community development issues, such as gang culture and the immigrant and refugee experience.

Cascade Neighborhood Council

The Cascade Neighborhood Council will organize a series of interactive public art events to celebrate the role of the arts and artists in the Cascade neighborhood. The events will be held November 1 and December 6, 2018 and January 3 and February 7, 2019. Each event will take place 5pm - 7pm. They will be held at Low Income Housing Institute - Lakeview Building located at 1170 Harrison St and other locations in the Cascade neighborhood.

Friends of Rainier Valley Creative District

The Friends of Rainer Valley Creative District are hosting the 2023 Rainier Valley Community Arts Resource Fair (Arts Resource Fair) will take place on Sunday, August 20, 2023 in Columbia Park (located at the north end of Rainier Valley) from 11AM to 7PM. This is a full day multi-purpose event that will provide arts, culture, education, health, legal, housing, and business resources to the general public with a particular focus on the needs of creative businesses in the Rainier Valley.

STRUM Community Group

The STRUM Project will bring together 25 musicians from the city's homeless population and neighbors who share an interest in making music and building community. We will provide musical instruments, host 6 jam sessions, 8 weeks of musical instruction sessions, and help them organize bands. There will be also be a volunteer and participant appreciation dinner at the end of the project.

Seattle Rideshare Drivers Association

Seattle Rideshare Drivers Association (SRDA) is organizing a Rideshare Drivers and Riders Appreciation Day at Judkins Park 2150 S. Norman Street on April 15, 2022, 12-6 pm. The event will bring together Uber and Lyft Drivers and Riders to appreciate one another and forge a path back to normality following the severe disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Project Goals: Build relationships and community among rideshare drivers, their families and riders, Provide resources and information to drivers about local services, e.g. subsidized housing, health insurance, and training programs to learn various skills, Hear drivers' ideas for future work we can do together as SRDA. This project will be completed by June 30, 2022.

Cascade People’s Center

Replace obsolete computers in the computer lab and provide basic technology training for low income and homeless families in the South Lake Union neighborhood.

Low Income Housing Institute

The Low Income Housing Institute will host a free monthly concert series featuring local jazz, blues, folk, rock, and other styles of music. The series will take place from December 2017 - November 2018 at Ernestine Anderson Place located at 2010 S Jackson St. It will bring a wide range of community members together for entertaining events that pay tribute to the history of the Central District neighborhood.

Path with Art

Path with Art's purpose for this project is to utilize the power of art to build community and to foster restoration for those who have experienced trauma. The project is two-fold: hold workshops to design, create and install five `Free Little Art Galleries`(FLAG's) and provide 100 free art kits at each site for community members. Each FLAG will be placed near Path With Art's social service partners (Yesler Terrace, DESC, Plymouth Housing, KC Drug Diversion Court, and Sound Health) in underserved neighborhoods creating low-barrier entry opportunities for art exploration, inner healing, and joyous connection. At the culmination of the project, an exhibition of all collected art works will be held at the Seattle Center. The anticipated project completion date is 11/30/2022

Capitol Hill Housing Foundation

The LGBTQ Senior Celebration will be held on September 21, 2017 from 5pm to 8pm at the Calamus Auditorium located at 517 E Pike St. The goal of this celebration is to catalyze a conversation on affordable housing and healthcare for LGBTQ seniors on Capitol Hill. There will be Queer art, food, and storytelling that will bring generations together to create a strong foundation for Capitol Hill Housing's plans to create a low-income LGBTQ senior affirming apartment building.

Parents for a Better Downtown Seattle

Parents for a Better Downtown Seattle (PBDS) will recruit new members by hosting a table at the Downtown Residents Council's `Downtown 101` event on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, 5:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Palace Ballroom (2100 5th Ave). PBDS is a new community group that advocates for family-oriented infrastructure, policies, and initiatives in downtown Seattle, including schools, parks, playspaces, and affordable family-sized housing. The event is free and open to the public.

Via Seattle

Via Seattle will host a free public event to bring people together and raise awareness about homelessness as the winter season begins. The event will feature free food, a DJ, and the opportunity for people to offer coats for donation if they wish. It will take place on December 18, 2016 from 4:30 pm - 8 pm at 1406 E Pike St.

Low Income Housing Institute

The Low Income Housing Institute would like to create an event series to take place every other month in the community activity space at Cheryl Chow Court located at 2014 NW 57th Street in Ballard. The event series will feature people and topics relating to the Ballard neighborhood, be free and open to the public, bringing a wide range of community members together to create fun and educational events that highlight the people and history of the neighborhood.

Capitol Hill Housing Foundation

Nearly 90 percent of the residents living in the Capitol Hill EcoDistrict live in multifamily housing. Capitol Hill Housing, in partnership with the City, Capitol Hill Community Council and other neighborhood leaders, will engage renters living within the Capitol Hill EcoDistrict first in a voter registration and pledge to vote drive, and then as Building Ambassadors brought together at a 2016 Renters Summit to build community and inform the next wave of development coming to the Hill.

Path with Art

Hear and Now will bring attention to issues surrounding homelessness. Hear and Now will bring adults living in or who are in recovery from homelessness, addiction or other trauma, together with members of the general public to conceptualize a response to community perceptions of homelessness through music and performing arts. Interactive exhibitions of the S'Leiterwägeli sound sculpture, community art classes, and performances will take place throughout 2019.

All the Sky Foundation

We will partner with businesses, families and youth in the community to create winter survival kits for the unsheltered homeless in our neighborhood. West Seattle has seen a remarkable increase in persons living in the streets and greenbelt areas. A diverse group of people wished to help with some form of assistance. They will create winter survival kits for the homeless. The kits will contain hats and gloves, toiletries, socks, hand warmers, rain poncho, flashlight, and snacks.

Full Life Care

Expand the mobile lab to teach technology classes at nine more Seattle Housing Authority buildings. Update vital assistive technologies at the STAR Center and Full Life Care Art Studio. Provide accessibility training and best practices to 6 low-income communities.

Digital Promise

To upgrade existing labs in two transitional and low-income housing buildings and to develop, and to train individuals in these locations to use computer and web tools that target their specific needs.

Low Income Housing Institute

Build on a pilot project to engage volunteers to help formerly homeless, low-income, senior and disabled residents of LIHI housing to improve their computer technology and job search skills. Expand program to four locations: South Lake Union, Greenwood, Pioneer Square and Georgetown.

Full Life Care

Nine Seattle Housing Authority communities that are not currently served by onsite computer labs will collaborate and share a mobile computer lab to provide technology access and training to their low income residents.

South East Effective Development

Install a computer lab and small internet radio station at the Dakota, a new Rainier Valley housing facility for low-income families. Provide computer literacy and radio broadcasting clasess. This will also support the future Rainier Valley Radio Low Power FM station.

YouthCare

Replace end-of-life hardware and install additional equipment, software, and connectivity infrastructure at YouthCare’s five residential sites and three multi-service agencies to provide youth and young adults experiencing homelessness with educational and employment support.

InterIm CDA

ICDA and community are creating public art, interpretive installations, a new community gathering place, neighborhood walking tours, and more to honor beloved and legendary community leader, Bob Santos at Uncle Bob's Place, Interim's newest low income housing project. Uncle Bob's Place is prominently located in the CID and many elements of the public art and installations will be on the outside of the building for all who visit the CID. This effort will enhance the sense of place, culture, history, purpose, and community in the CID and contribute to keeping the neighborhood strong and intact, even in the face of intense displacement and gentrification pressures.
