The purpose of the SNAP E&T program is to assist members of SNAP households in gaining skills, training, or experience that will increase their ability to obtain and retain gainful employment.

Eligibility

SNAP program eligibility is determined by several factors, including income level, type of income, household size, age, disability, utility/housing expenses, and more. SNAP recipients aged 16-60 who are unemployed and do not qualify for an exemption may participate in an E&T program as part of satisfying SNAP work requirements to receive benefits. SNAP recipients between 18-50 years old who are physically able to work but unemployed and without children are classified as Able-Bodied Adults without Dependents (ABAWD) unless they meet an exemption. ABAWDs cannot receive SNAP benefits for more than three months out of a 36-month period unless they are working or participating in a E&T program for at least 20 hours per week (this can be waived in certain areas of high unemployment).
