Belltown Art Walk

The Belltown Artwalk community group will be hosting an art exhibit located at the Slip Galley 2301 1st Ave on Jan 10, 2025. The exhibit will feature four artist as they delve into themes of self perception, identity, and the complexities of internal dialogue. Through curated pieces that explore the fluid and often distorted boundaries between mind, body, and self, viewers are invited into deeply personal reflections. The show will also hosts two free public workshops aimed at fostering introspection and self-expression. The event is free and open to the public.

Georgetown Open Space Steering Committee

The Georgetown Open Space Steering Committee (GOSSC) will prepare design documents and do community outreach for design of drainage improvements and rain gardens/bioswales along 8th Ave SW near Gateway Park North (7551 8th Ave SW). Outreach will be done at the Duwamish Alive! clean-up event at Gateway Park on Saturday, April 21, 10am-2pm, as well as at other community events and meetings in May and early June. Community input will be completed by mid-June 2018.

Friends of Block Party at The Station

Friends of Block Party at The Station will organize a music and arts festival showcasing South Seattle artists and small businesses (Block Party at The Station). It will be held on June 17, 2017, from noon to 8pm, along 16th Ave S, between S. Bailey and Roberto Maestas Festival Street. The festival will spotlight marginalized communities. A majority of festival performers will be women and LGBTQ artists of color. The festival will also showcase Beacon Hill as an immigrant community in order to challenge anti-immigrant narratives and rhetoric.

Rainier Beach Merchants Association

The Rainier Beach Music and Arts Fest, (BAAMFest), will celebrate our beautiful, vibrant community and highlight the Rainier Beach business district. BAAMFest is a cultural celebration with music, dance, spoken word, visual arts, food, art vendors, contests and more. These events activate hot spots in the community with powerful expressions of art and engaging activities for the whole family. BAAMFest is on July 22, 2017 on the Rainier Beach Community Center Plaza 8825 Rainier Avenue South.

Gullah Geechee

The Gullach Geechee Festival - Call and Response is a diverse set of activities from August through November 2018 including poetry readings, a genealogy weekend, an American Gullah Art Exhibit and a 3 day Gulla Geechee Family Reunion. These activities will highlight and celebrate a long forgotten African American sub-culture.

Rising SEAs

Rising SEAs will host a free conference to foster civic leadership and engagement among Southeast Asians Americans. It will feature speakers, presentations, and a resource fair. It will be held on November 17, 2018 from 9am - 6pm at the University of Washington Husky Union Building located at 4001 East Stevens Way NE.

Belltown Community Council Parks and Arts

The 2017 Belltown Community Plan prompted a revival of civic urbanism. One plan objective is more park activation to bring the community together. This project will support the expenses of a schedule of several park events and programming throughout the year in Belltown parks. This project will be completed by September 30, 2019.

Dia de Muertos Committee

The Dia de Muertos celebration event will take place on November 2 & 3, 2019 at Seattle Center. This event is part of the Festal Cultural Festivals and brings to life this vibrant Mexican tradition remembering and honoring the departed ones through colorful art, history, musical performances, and cultural activities that transport spectators and participants to different regions of Mexico. The main goal is to connect the Mexican and Latinx communities to their heritage and share these rich traditions with the broader community. The event is free and open to the public.

Filipino Chamber of Commerce of the Pacific Northwest

The Filipino Chamber of Commerce of the Pacific Northwest would like to host a Jazz festival at the Jose Rizal Park on Beacon Hill located on 12th Avenue South on August 11th, to share information about who Jose Rizal is and his contributions to Filipino history. This is a free and open event for all the community to enjoy.

Associated Recreation Council

The Associated Recreation Council in partnership with the Green Lake Advisory Council is hosting its 43rd Annual Pathway of Lights free public event around Green Lake on Saturday December 14, 2019 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. This event has become a celebrated community tradition. Just before the dark days of Fall give way to Winter, Green Lake is transformed into a radiant, sparkling oasis. This year hot air balloons will be set up at dusk and inflated as if they are going to take off, but instead of being allowed to ascend they are tethered to the ground by crews. The balloons glow like huge light bulbs or lanterns, giving a spectacular display for Pathway of Lights visitors. This project will be completed by February 28, 2020.

South Park Retail Merchants Association

SPMA wants to hold POSADA and PASTORELA with light displays, piñatas, performances, and seasonal foods. The event will be held on December 12th, 2021 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm in the Plaza South Park located at 8456 Dallas Ave S Seattle WA.

Center for Linguistic and Cultural Democracy

We plan to bring back Caribbean Sea Fest, a pan Caribbean, family-oriented arts and cultural event. The event will be held on July 31, 2022 from 11 am to 7:30pm at Pier 62 located at 1951 Alaskan Way Seattle WA. The anticipated project completion date is September 30, 2022.

Green Lake Advisory Council

The Green Lake Advisory Council will host its 45th annual Pathway of Lights at Green Lake, 7201 East Green Lake Dr N, on Saturday December 10, 2022, from 4:30-7:30 pm. This free event marks the start of the winter season and has become a lauded community tradition. At sunset, Green Lake is transformed with 2.8 miles of luminaries into a radiant, sparkling oasis. This year's event will be enhanced with a hot air balloon `night glow` on the playfields at Green Lake Community Center. Hot air balloons will be set up at dusk and are inflated as if they are going to take off, but instead of being allowed to ascend, they are tethered to the ground by the crews. This project will be completed by January 31,2023.

Greater Seattle Business Association

In May, a pulse-check survey with our community showed that safety (of the wider community, of customers, and staff) is a top-of-mind concern right now for a vast majority of GSBA?s chamber member businesses in Washington. As the State's (and nation's) largest LGBTQ+ chamber of commerce, located in the densest neighborhood of Seattle, GSBA knows that safety is a critical component to Capitol Hill's economic vitality, and that our businesses play a key role in it. As a result, GSBA and Capitol Hill Business Alliance (CHBA), our local Capitol Hill neighborhood Chamber, are planning a Safety Forum, in response to this complex and ever-present discourse around safety in our community. At this forum, GSBA will invite our Capitol Hill business community to engage with the topic of safety in a way that broadens the conversation to include actionable solutions, accessible resources, and tangible tools, featuring knowledgeable guest speakers, open Q&As, community networking, and more.

Rainier Beach Community Club

This project provides reusable yard signs for the RB Garden Tour and Arts & Crafts Bazaar, supplies and equipment for RB HUB for Urban Survivor Skills Training and other HUB activities and start up equipment for free Family Movie Nights in Rainier Beach.

Socks on my Hands Productions

Seattle Community Puppet Day (SCPD) is a biannual event that uses arts and culture to create a day of service, enrichment, and entertainment. In 2024 we are offering the event on Saturday 9/14 to create equitable access for the communities of Columbia City, Ranier Valley and Beacon Hill. The day will offer dedicated hours for litter clean-up, free workshops with master puppet artists, and wandering performers, a puppet parade, and kids dance party based at the Ranier Arts Center. In cooperation with the Puget Sound Puppet Fest, we will be sponsoring free access to the Jim Henson: Life and Legacy exhibit complemented by a screening of Jim Henson Idea Man and a special presentation by Karen Falk, archivist to the Jim Henson Company and a VIP guest appearance by Karen Prell (Red Fraggle).

OCA Greater Seattle

Creation of a safety booklet developed by Chinatown-International District community members and students from the University of Washington. The safety booklet addresses many ways perpetrators take advantage of elderly people; internet phishing, scams, harassment, physical assaults, and/or phony solicitors prey on unknowing seniors. The booklet is created in cooperation with the Seattle Police Department, Chinese Information Services Center, University of Washington American Ethnic Studies department, and Office of Emergency Management. NMF funds will be used to pay for printing and distribution of 1000 booklets on 11/15/2025 at the ID/Chinatown Community Center, located at 719 8th Ave S Seattle WA.

HomeSight

The Othello International Festival is a celebration of and for the members of the Othello community. This project will increase the involvement of people from diverse backgrounds in the Othello community. Activities will include an art creation station, face painting, ethnic dance performances, a petting zoo, carnival activities, live music, vendors, information booths, and food vendors/trucks. The purpose of this event is to continue to develop a neighborhood identity where people get to know one another and feel part of the community as a whole despite coming from all different backgrounds and cultures. In this way, they will feel motivated to share in other neighborhood improvements and endeavors such as neighborhood planning, clean-ups, promotions of the business district development, beautification projects, etc. We want community members and organizations to come together to ensure the place we call home is thriving.

Dr Jose Rizal Park and Bridge Foundation

This event is showcasing the Philippine holiday celebration, filled with cultural representation of various regions. Sharing our beautiful culture on how we prepare, welcome and celebrate this holiday in our households with our loved ones. Philippines holiday celebration is the longest in the world! It starts from Sept. 1st and through the Chinese New Year in Feb! The event will be held at the Filipino Community Center located at 5740 Martin Luther King Jr Way S Seattle WA 98118 on November 2, 2024 from 11am to 4pm The vent is free and open to the public.

206 Zulu

206 Zulu community group will be hosting its 20th anniversary weekend festivities during President's Day weekend in 2024, located at 153 14th Ave. The event will include a series of panel discussions, resources and industry insider conference called Meeting of the Minds for aspiring Hip Hop artists, producers, dancers and visual artists looking to elevate their careers. The event is free and open to the public.

Kimball Elementary

Our project is a traffic calming street mural at the intersection of 24th Avenue South and South Horton Street. The purpose of the street mural is to help slow traffic and bring the community together around a common goal. With input from the Kimball Elementary community and the surrounding residential neighbors, we will design, plan, and install a street mural. We will seek help from a local artist experienced with mural design and implementation. We will have 3-4 meetings to design and plan. With the help of volunteers we will have a one day event to paint the mural. This project will be completed by July 31. 2018.

Friends of Seattle Recycled Arts Festival

Recycled art is made from materials slated for the landfill, giving these items a second life through the vision of artists to create new durable goods. This event on May 11-12,2018 will demonstrate the many ways of approaching the phrase: Reduce, Re-use, and Recycle - This will be achieved through public participation, celebration and most importantly, education. This event is free to the public and includes an Eco Fashion show, Juried Arts Gallery, Outdoor Sculpture Garden, Art-Tech-Trash interactive space, Children's Interactive Space, Art Car Round Up, donation drive for textiles and household goods, Fix-It Clinic, and the Seattle Tilth Education Booth. Participation for children and families is intentionally provided as development of future citizens that will be environmentally conscious.

Festa Italiana

The 30th Annual Italian Festival at Seattle Center is a community festival to celebrate the joy of 'All Things Italian.' With an average attendance each year of 25,000, the Italian Festival is the largest Italian-American event in the Pacific Northwest. It is free to the public and features art, music, dance, food and activities for the entire family. The dates this year are September 22 - 24, 2017, with programming from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm.

Magnolia Chamber of Commerce - Discover Magnolia

The Magnolia Chamber of Commerce will complete a large-scale restoration of the traffic median located at 2208 32nd Ave W in the Magnolia neighborhood. The restoration will beautify and increase the quality of life in the neighborhood. We will restore this median to create a beautiful garden using low growing, low maintenance and low water usage plants. This project willl be completed by July 31, 2025.
