Duwamish Tribal Services / Duwamish Longhouse and Cultural Center

Duwamish Tribal Services and the Log House Museum will celebrate Spirit Returns 2.0 highlighting the cultural and heritage achievements made in 20 years of progress. The Duwamish will be celebrating a new exhibit at the Duwamish Longhouse and Cultural Center located at 4705 W Marginal Way SW featuring Chief Seattle's hat and the unveiling of a 30 ft. Welcome Figure at the newly renamed T107 Park to Ha ah Poos Village Park in Spring 2022.

Kubota Garden Foundation

The Kubota Garden Foundation will organize a series of public activities to celebrate the publication of the book Spirited Stone: Lessons from Kubota's Garden. Three free public events will take place between fall 2019 and spring 2020. They will take place at Seattle Public Library located at 1000 4th Ave and other Seattle locations. Up to 150 books will be donated to libraries for public use. The project will be professionally documented by video for public distribution.

Movimiento Afrolatino Seattle

On Saturday, June 9, 2018, Movimiento Afrolatino Seattle will engage the community in a positive family event using music, dance and theatre as tools to educate and empower. The event will be from 4-8pm at the Centilia Cultural Center, 1660 S. Roberto Maestas Festival Street in Seattle. The oral tradition of the pregones will be the main focus of the concert. This tradition evolved to influence art and music becoming a powerful and dynamic tool for collective resistance. Participating artists will explore the differences and similarities of the pregón in various regions of the Americas, while highlighting the contributions of the people of African descent.

Squire Park P-Patch

This project will be the start of a composting program at the Squire Park P-Patch. October through December 2017 we will acquire tools and make upgrades to existing bins to support the composting process. The goal is to provide compost to benefit the 31 garden plots and the common spaces at Squire Park P-Patch.

Pigeon Point Neighborhood Council

The Pigeon Point Neighborhood Council will host a free public event on June 30, 2019 from 12 pm - 3:30 pm at Pigeon Point Park located at 1901 SW Genesee St. The event will celebrate the neighborhood with music, food, and games.

Administration for Community Living

Formula grants to state DD Councils to promote self-determination, independence, productivity, integration, and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities.

Kids and Paper

Kids and Paper has served children ages 5-12 with afterschool and summer program through homework help, SEL development through creative arts, healthy meals, and recreational activities at Magnuson Community Center, located at 7110 62nd Ave NE Seattle, WA. We are now looking to expand our educational impact by adding a new element to our program, specific STEM focused activities and tutoring that expose children to topics and hands-on learning. This will help students connect what they are learning with real-world applications. We will offer the new STEM program through the summer of 2023 and anticipate closing this project on September 30, 2023.

Xbot Robotics

Xbot Robotics will organize a series of free STEM robotics workshops for youth. They will be held from fall 2017 to spring 2018 at the Beacon Hill Library located at 2821 Beacon Avenue S. Recruitment for the workshops will be targeted towards youth who may lack access to STEM activities and robotic kits at home or in their communities.

Friends of STEM Technology

Youth participants will attend a Science Technology Engineering and Math summer camp where they will have two opportunities to enhance their video skills. They will learn the technical design process all programmers use to create video games. They will also assist in creating, writing and producing a basic video that will be viewed in a public venue upon completion.

Stone Way Mural

We are planning to paint a street mural on Stone Ave North next to Robert Eagle Staff Middle School to give our community a stronger bond and feeling of togetherness. This will be a great way to bring the school and neighborhood together. The anticipated project completion date is 11/30/025.

Velocity Dance Center

Brute Beauty is a public event held in Freeway Park, 700 Seneca Street, on July 14 at 11:00 a.m. Brute Beauty brings Seattle Artist Jody Kuehner's company dance members in an immersive #MeToo performance. The performance centers around the recent national #metoo movement and the parks history in the conversation. Brute Beauty is a performance of empowerment for women, feminism, and the importance of safe public spaces.

STRUM Community Group

The STRUM Project will bring together 25 musicians from the city's homeless population and neighbors who share an interest in making music and building community. We will provide musical instruments, host 6 jam sessions, 8 weeks of musical instruction sessions, and help them organize bands. There will be also be a volunteer and participant appreciation dinner at the end of the project.

HOI CAO NIEN TAM LAC

Summer Festival is one day entertain-food arranged to take place at Alki Masonic Center. The project will be whole day on June 30th. We will attract all Vietnamese elderly in the area We also welcome for all communities to come to enjoy the cultures, food, music, dance.

Ballard Alliance

The Ballard Alliance will increase activity in Ballard Commons Park, located at 5701 22nd Avenue NW, by hosting five movies and a workout series which will draw in millennials, families, and baby boomers, welcoming all to enjoy a night at the movies or a workout in Ballard Commons Park. This project will be completed by October 31, 2019.

Admiral Village

Sponsor movement classes and activities in the Admiral neighborhood. Ten weeks of free yoga/meditation classes, four per week, free and open to all, with different types of classes to reach out to diverse interests and abilities. We believe there is a need for grass roots community building in the area. We hope the grant could be an incubator to. build interest and continuity for a community based yoga/wellness centre. The classes would be held at the Admiral UCC church, located in the heart of the neighborhood. The church is in transition. It is currently in the planning stages of partnering with a non-profit housing developer to demolish the existing structure, then build mixed income housing with a multi-purpose community space. This grant could begin the process of demonstrating the community's interest in utilizing such a space in a creative and beneficial manner for all.

Sunrise/Rainier Vista P-Patch

The project aims to enhance the Sunrise P-Patch Garden by installing protective gates and creating a covered picnic area. This will foster community engagement, provide a shared space, and promote cultural exchange in a diverse neighborhood. The project is community-driven, with support from the Department of Neighborhood, and is set to begin promptly upon funding, backed by a comprehensive plan and enthusiastic community involvement.

Rapid re-housing and homelessness prevention for very low-income veteran families through case management, temporary financial assistance, and outreach.

2100 Project

2100 Project is working with an intern from UW in order to create a 6-part video series about sustainable agriculture, the actions being taken by UW, and lessons that can be learned by the public. We want to share these videos across social media and other communication platforms in order to start a conversation with the public and invite them to community events we organize that center around sustainable agriculture. All events will comply with any King County health guidelines still in place. Video production will take place in July and the events will take place in August. Our primary audience is students, but the message will be general and the events will be open to the public. This project will be completed by November 30, 2021.

Friends of Seattle Community Farm

The Friends of Seattle Community Farm will develop a long-range plan for the farm with community input. They will partner with the UW School of Public Health to use surveys, focus groups, interviews with community-based organizations, and community outreach events to collect input about the farm. Stipends will be given to youth outreach workers. The goal is to develop a sustainable financial and partnership model for the farm by early fall 2018.

Fremont Floating Wetlands

The project will install artistic educational signage that will bring attention and promote understanding of the floating wetlands that are adjacent to the protection piers at the Fremont Bridge along the Burke Gilman trail. These floating wetlands on the north side of the Lake Washington Ship Canal provide opportunities for educational information and engagement to promote innovative ways of bringing salmon habitat back to the urban water edges. The anticipated project completion date is February 28, 2022.

Discover Arts in the Park

Discover Arts in the Park in will organize an outdoor event to explore climate change through the lens of art. Symphony for Climate Change will take place on August 17, 2019 at the upper field of the Daybreak Star Center in Discovery Park. The event will feature a multimedia symphony, dance performances, and science presentations that will initiate discourse and motivate people to see what practical steps they can take in their own lives and communities to combat climate change.

Tai Chi at Benefit Park Neighborhood Group

The Tai Chi at Benefit Park program will offer the public free, Covid-19 compliant, beginner Tai Chi classes at Benefit Park on Beacon Hill in Seattle, Washington. The classes will be offered every Wednesday from 7-8 pm, from the beginning of June through the end of August 2021. The program is designed to encourage neighborhood wellness, connection and inclusion, which has been shown to increase community emotional and physical resilience.

Soul Societies

Soul Societies will provide art instruction and cultural exploration to 50 youth in Seattle free of charge. Youth will take twenty two-hour classes approximately weekly from September 2017 to January 2018 at Gravity Plus0 (1000 South Weller Street). The focus will be on cultural folklore and development of a book featuring the youth's work, copies of which will be given free to neighborhood and community groups. Youth aged 6-12 will be recruited from the International District and neighboring areas. There will also be a signup table at the Banh Mi Fest in the ID on August 27, 2017. Instructors will be a variety of professional designers/community artists. Youth will showcase artwork at the Tet in Seattle event on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Seattle Center's Fisher Pavilion and at a Soul Societies celebration in June 2018. These classes will provide a creative space for the youth to share and learn about their cultural history through artistic and literary expression.

Taming Bigfoot

Taming Bigfoot in Seattle (TBS) is a team-based carbon footprint reduction competition designed to engage Seattle Community Members in supporting the City of Seattle's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Participants will be chosen based on a first come, first served basis and then teams will be organized based on information provided in the registration form. The competition will kick off in January 2018 and be completed in April 2018 with an awards ceremony to follow.
