South End Seattle Arts Center dba ReVision Arts

ReVision Arts wants to make accessible our Rainier Valley Neighborhood Art Grant Projects and ReVision Arts Annual Please Touch Tactile Exhibit. This will include: 1) Translation and Interpretation of Neighborhood Art Grant Projects as needed. Public sub grantee events will be April to Sept. To create an accessible projects meeting ADA, we need $$ for Sign Language Interpreters for sub grantee events in the Rainier Valley. 2) Orientation on April 4th a) Provision of Interpreters for sub grantee Orientation b) Presentation regarding access and event planning 3) ReVision Arts will bring Please Touch Tactile Art Exhibit to Rainier Valley to celebrate the ADA Anniversary 2023. Attendance is free and open to all. For above events: Subgrantees mother tongue may not be English, we will provide language interpretation as requested. We want to close caption digital presentations. Digital translation is not always accurate, we need an editor /proof reader.

Kirke P-Patch

Kirke P-Patch, located at 7028 9th Ave NW Seattle WA, was built in 2012 with 38 garden plots. We have a wonderful group of gardeners who support each other, the community including Ballard Food Bank, and help maintain Kirke Park. Since 2012, the wood around the P-Patch raised beds has deteriorated badly. We have many spots of rotting wood and a few places where the boards are ready to give way, posing a safety hazard for children as they walk on the unstable wood edges. This grant will support the purchase of new lumber and materials to replace the boards. We believe this project will contribute to the revitalization of Kirke Park P-Patch for many years to come. The anticipated project completion date is April 30, 2026.

Refugee Women's Alliance (ReWA)

Refugee Women's Alliance will host a community carnival on April 27, 2019 from 3 pm - 6 pm at 4008 Martin Luther King Jr. Wy S. The event will showcase the creative contributions of refugee and immigrant youth and will include performances, art, and food.

Rewild Eastlake

Launch Rewild Eastlake’s efforts to enhance local habitat with new native plants, as well as to assist with organizational development and community engagement. We propose to host a native plant sale in October 2025, to engage residents and disperse new native plants into neighborhood yards. Separate from the plant sale, we will purchase native plants with NMF grant funds to be planted by volunteers in Fairview Park and other areas in the neighborhood. The project will increase community engagement in addition to improving native plant habitat in the neighborhood. The anticipated project completion date is March 31, 2026.

Community Arts Create

Rhapsody Project instructors will collaborate with a diverse set of Seattle musicians and educators to design curriculum and deliver a weekly roots music class to 30 youth during a 10 week period between September and December of 2018 at the Hillman City Collaboratory. The project will culminate in a free community concert in December. Students will be offered a stipend for attending the classes, completing a guided independent study in the spring of 2019 and for their participation in the concert.

Seattle Rideshare Drivers Association

Seattle Rideshare Drivers Association (SRDA) is organizing a Rideshare Drivers and Riders Appreciation Day at Judkins Park 2150 S. Norman Street on April 15, 2022, 12-6 pm. The event will bring together Uber and Lyft Drivers and Riders to appreciate one another and forge a path back to normality following the severe disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Project Goals: Build relationships and community among rideshare drivers, their families and riders, Provide resources and information to drivers about local services, e.g. subsidized housing, health insurance, and training programs to learn various skills, Hear drivers' ideas for future work we can do together as SRDA. This project will be completed by June 30, 2022.

21 Progress

The 21 Progress organization will convene community conversations about how to develop emerging leaders, increase community collaboration across sectors, and support resistance to oppression. Approximately eight events will be held between February and November 2018 at 21 Progress located at 409 Maynard Ave S. The events will feature speakers, food, and community dialogue.

Rizal Park and Bridge Preservation Society

The Jose Rizal Jazz Festival is an annual event to showcase and increase awareness of Jose Rizal Park and the need to preserve the park and history of its namesake; to build and reinforce community cohesiveness; to inform community of available resources; to celebrate and share the rich history and talent of Seattle's Filipino community; and to educate and inform the larger community of Filipino culture. The day-long event includes Filipino performers, resource information, crafts and food booths with music throughout the day. The event is open to the general public.

Interbay P-Patch Community Gardeners

The Interbay P- Patch community will work with their neighbors to replace the roofing on the tool and food bank structures. These enhancements will give the garden an aesthetically consistent and secure look from the street.

Roosevelt Neighborhood Association

Rooted in Roosevelt is a neighborhood celebration featuring live music, events for all ages, and introductions to local organizations. The mission of this festival is to bring together members of the Roosevelt community, highlight a diverse range of talent across the neighborhood, and cement Roosevelt as an attractive destination for living and recreation. The headline attraction will be live performances from six bands with ties to the neighborhood. The event will also feature child-friendly activities, such as face painting, concentrated in the early hours of the event. Booths will be made available, free of charge, for local businesses and mission-aligned community organizations to meet community members. Rooted in Roosevelt will be free to attend and widely advertised around the neighborhood. Rooted in Roosevelt is scheduled for Saturday, September 20 from 2 to 8 PM. Our location is the Calvary Church parking lot, located at 945 NE 69th St Seattle WA.

WEST AFRICAN RELIEF CENTER

Roots & Rhythm: West African Story Circle is a community storytelling event that honors the rich oral traditions of West African cultures while creating space for connection, celebration, and healing. Organized by the West African Relief Center, the event will bring together elders, youth, and neighbors for an evening filled with folktales, drumming, dancing, and shared food. The event is more than entertainment, it’s a way to preserve culture, uplift immigrant and refugee voices, and build deeper bonds across generations and backgrounds. It’s a reminder that everyone belongs, and that our stories matter. The event will be held at the Rainier Beach Community Center located at 8825 Rainer Ave S Seattle WA on September 20, 2025, from 2 to 6PM and is free and open to the public.

ROOTS Celebration Committee

The ROOTS Celebration Committee will host a free public event on September 1, 2019 from 10 am to 6 pm at Jimi Hendrix located at 2400 S Massachusetts St and at the adjacent Sam Smith Park located at 1400 Martin Luther King Jr Wy S. This iconic annual celebration of African American culture will feature storytelling, art, music, and community building.

Friends of Roots Without Borders

The Friends of Roots Without Borders will be hosting `Music to Build Community` a series of five arts and culture events that illuminate the roots of music and dance in the Americas, The first event is going to take place on March 5, 2023 at Broadway Performance Hall, 1625 Broadway, Seattle, WA 98122. Rehearsals for all five events will take place at Sunset Hill Community Association. Other event will take place on May 8th, September 17th, November 4th and another in December, start times will be confirmed prior to events. The series will follow the evolution of arts and culture from a time before borders. Event programs will feature professional artists of diverse disciplines and cultures, highlighting indigenous music and folkloric dance from Olmec, Zapotec, Maya, Toltec, Aztec and Lummi peoples. The event is free and open to the public.

NW 42nd Street Block Watch Group

The NW 42nd Street Block Watch Group will be replacing and updating worn HUB equipment. In addition, the HUB will be hosting "Hub Drills" to bring the community together community to demonstrate the importance of having a HUB. The project will take place at Ross Park, 3rd Avenue NW between NW 43rd and 44th Streets. The event is free and open to the public.

Friends of Roxhill Elementary

The Friends of Roxhill Elementary will lead the planning and installation of new play features and a mural at the E.C. Hughes playground located at 7740 34th Avenue SW. The work will take place between fall 2017 and summer 2018 in advance of Roxhill Elementary's relocation to E.C. Hughes in Fall 2018.

Friends of Safe Access: Street to Park

`Friends of Safe Access: Street to Park` is requesting funding for a community-driven design process that will create a conceptual plan for a safe and accessible west entry to Mt. Baker Park for all neighbors, families, and visitors. This grant is to solicit and hire a design firm to work with the community in preparing conceptual drawings for the replacement of the steep, hazardous, and slippery trail/path that currently exists.

Multimedia Resources and Training Institute

The Multimedia Resources and Training Institute will be hosting a one year project that will promote safety awareness, youth engagement, community collaboration, and safety education to build a stronger and safer community at Yesler Terrace. This project will educate, inspire, and empower residents to take ownership of their community’s safety and foster a stronger Yesler community, our project will focus on: Community safety education through events, speakers, and digital outreach, media storytelling to document and share safety initiatives, community engagement, neighborhood watch programs, and youth and parent empowerment to strengthen safety efforts. The events and activities will be free and open to the public and will be completed in the summer of 2026.

Grants to fire departments for hiring new firefighters, rehiring laid-off firefighters, and retaining those facing layoff.

Friends of Little Saigon

April 30, 2025, will mark 50 years since the end of the Vietnam War. To commemorate this date, FLS is dedicating our arts and culture program efforts towards collecting, preserving, and sharing the stories of Vietnamese refugees and their families through an oral history project titled `Saigon to Seattle.`

Le Leo o Samoa: Voice of Samoa

Le Leo o Samoa - The Voice of Samoa will engage community members to create a trilogy documentary to raise awareness of and celebrate Samoan culture. Three outreach events will be held between fall 2018 and spring 2019 at locations in Seattle to be determined. A final public screening event highlighting Fa'asamoa, the Samoan way of life, will be held in July 2019 at a location in Seattle to be determined.

Salmon Bay Park Stewards

Salmon Bay Park Stewards (SBPS) will activate Salmon Bay Park located at 2001 NW Canoe Place with engaging summer events. In June we will host a community picnic, in July we will host a concert at the park with a coordinating arts and craft event for children, and in August we will host an all-ages movie night. These events will all have food and activities for children and will help build a sense of community around the park. This project will be completed by September 30, 2019.

The Residency

The Residency will be hosting the 2025 Satellite Show Series. There will be three free live music performances featuring young artists and alumni from the residency. Hosted at Midtown Square located at 2301 E Union St. on August 23rd, and at the Vera Project located at 305 Harrison St on December 20th. The third event is March 21, 2026 at Washington Hall located at 153 14th Ave. These events will showcase emerging artists, foster community engagement, and provide professional performance opportunities for Black and Brown musicians. The project will be led by a youth-centered leadership team, with support from The Residency’s staff, and volunteers. The events are free and open to the public.
