Senior Wellness Planning Committee

The Senior Wellness Planning Committee will organize a series of nine free public workshops to promote wellness among Laotian seniors in southeast Seattle. The workshops will feature crafting and meditation. They will be held at the Rainier Beach Library located at 9125 Rainier Ave S. They will take place from 1 pm - 4 pm on June 10,17,24; July 1,22,29; and August 5,12,19, 2018.

Orquesta Northwest

On October 5, 2023, Orquesta Northwest will present a Latino chamber music concert, without charge, to celebrate 2023 National Hispanic Heritage month. The concert, featuring Latinx guest artists and composers, will take place in the Chapel at Good Shepherd Center, 7pm-9pm.

Circulo de Mamas Seattle

Latinos con Voz y Voto is a project to educate, and reach out to the Latino Community through civic engagement activities.

Institute of Museum and Library Services

Grants to develop a diverse workforce of librarians and archivists through scholarships, research, continuing education, and curriculum development.

Rainier Roller Riot

Rainier Roller Riot is an all-volunteer open-gender adult roller derby league in south Seattle serving majority LGBTQIA+ athletes. It will be hosted at Delridge Community Center, 4501 Delridge Way SW a 4-week bridge program for skaters who complete beginners camp but feel unready to skate at regular league practices. Second, a coach training program for advanced skaters to lead practices at the beginner or bridge camp. The coaches will run a “train the trainers” for skaters who are interested in coaching. The proposed project will increase retention of BIPOC and other skaters at multiple levels who do not see themselves represented in roller derby. The project is free and open to the public. The project will be completed in the Fall of 2026.

Leo Street P-Patch

The Leo Street P-Patch Group will do upgrades to the Leo Street P-patch garden, by upgrading the community message board, signage, replacing wood for garden beds, add decorations and markers for plots, as well as activities for engagement. These improvements will help the Leo Street P-Patch garden become welcoming dedicated growing space that improves access to fresh and culturally relevant foods. The project is free and open to community participation and will be completed in the Fall of 2025.

Leschi Community Council

The Leschi Community Council (LCC) will be hosting the Leschi Art Walk along Lakeside Avenue in Seattle's Leschi Community on Sept. 14 from 11am-4pm. Our goal is to bring the community together with music and activities for children, as well as provide a venue for artists to display their creations. We also want to bring in people from across Seattle to increase familiarity with the businesses along the lakefront. The event is free and open to the public.

Leschi Community Council

The Leschi Community Council will be hosting the Leschi Community Art Walk, located at 140 Lakeside Ave on September 10, from 11am-4pm. The Art Walk goals is to bring community together, provide a venue for the artist to display their creations and to bring people from across Seattle to increase familiarity about the businesses along the lakefront. The event is free and open to the public.

Friends of Art on Pier 86

Friends of Art on Pier 86 (FAP86) will project illuminated art onto the side of a building at Pier 86 in cooperation with the Port of Seattle. A pilot image or series of images will be projected for three months during the first half of 2018, and different art will be projected for a similar period at the end of 2018. They will do a call for artists, lead community workshops for input into art design, host opening events, and conduct community feedback surveys.

Sisters of South Seattle

`Let?s Get Back to School` is an event to get K-12 students in the area excited about going back to school! The event will have food, games, school supply giveaways, as well as information on how to study, time management, and after school activities.

Lavender Rights Project

The Lavender Rights Project will organize an artist reception to foster awareness of local lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer artists and to highlight the importance of LGBTQ voices and experiences. It will be held on November 2, 2019 from 5 pm - 7 pm at Hillman City Collaboratory located at 5623 Rainier Ave S. The event will feature approximately thirty local artists, live entertainment, and resource-sharing.

Velocity Dance Center

A vibrant week of outdoor dance performances, large-scale art installations, and LGBTQ+-led conversations in Capitol Hill over Labor Day weekend to promote an inclusive understanding of gender, parenting, and queer lineage. Additionally, organizers will host free BIPOC-led queer parent convenings to build community support networks for queer Seattle parents. Queer and trans family resources will be available in person and online to all participants and project attendees.

Licton Springs Emergency Hub

The Licton Community Council will establish the Licton Springs Emergency Hub located at 9600 College Way N. This project has two goals: (1) to establish an Emergency Hub and (2) to build neighborhood cohesion around emergency preparedness events. Preparing for a city-wide emergency that would have an impact on all people in our neighborhood will bring people of diverse backgrounds together. With the Hub’s placement, we will promote information about emergency safety and explain how the Hub will serve as a central gathering point for information and mutual aid. The project is free and open to public participation.

Friends of Hiawatha

We will increase street lighting with the installation of tree lights from December to March. The lights will be installed along the east and west sides of the 800 block and the west side of the 900 block of Hiawatha Place S. With an increase in crime and drug use in the neighborhood our goal is to create increased visibility as a deterrent to crime. We are including lights on sections that light up the residential pathways to public transportation areas. The lights will welcome those entering the community off of transit, riding their bikes, walking their dogs, and visiting friends and businesses in the community. In addition, a winter celebration event during the time the tree lights are up will bring neighbors together. This project will be completed by March 28, 2023.

Linden Orchard P-Patch

Rebuild the existing fence that separates the P-Patch from the paved alley. The fence is no longer stable/secure, and the wood has deteriorated to the point it cannot hold fasteners or be repaired. The fence is approximately 4' tall and about 36' long (in 3 sections). It has grape and kiwi growing in it in the east sections and is interrupted by a trellis entry that is to remain.

How2Listen

How2Listen community group will be hosting a monthly music and culture event series hosted at Métier Brewing located at 2616 E Cherry St. Each event spotlights emerging and underrepresented artists from the Northwest, with curated performances, DJs, and community storytelling. This series builds deeper connections between artists and the broader Seattle community by fostering dialogue, exposure, and celebration of local talent. The event is free and open to the public and will be completed by the end of Spring.

Friends of Little Saigon

The Friends of Little Saigon (FLS) in partnership with the Office of Planning and Community Development and the Community Leadership Committee will engage the community and develop a ten-year vision for Little Saigon. Three community wide meetings will be hosted to solicit feedback on the project process and deliverables, which include a comprehensive literature review of previous neighborhood plans; creation of a GIS map to steer private and public investment; and the development of design and use guidelines to inspire businesses and developers. The anticipated project completion date is June 30, 2022.

Friends of Little Saigon

The Friends of Little Saigon will lead a community process to design and install decorative crosswalks at a key Little Saigon intersection: S. Jackson Street and 12th Avenue S. Friends of Little Saigon will work closely with SDOT on design, and grant funds would be used for SDOT installation of the decorative crosswalks.

Live 2 Dance

Live2Dance Wali Diwali is a celebration of India’s biggest and most joyous festival, Diwali. Our goal is to bring the same energy, vibrancy, and warmth of Diwali to Seattle. To make this happen, we plan to set up a Diwali Mela, inviting local businesses, artisans, and creators to showcase their work through stalls and booths. The event will be filled with exciting carnival-style games, interactive activities, and, of course, lots of music and dance! Diwali is known as the festival of lights, symbolizing hope, joy, and new beginnings. Through this event, we want to spread that light far and wide, fostering a deeper cultural connection in Seattle and beyond. The event will be held at The Sound Hotel located at 2120 4th Ave, Seattle, WA, on October 18, 2025, from Noon to 6pm. The event will be free and open to the public.

USDA Agricultural Marketing Service

Grants for local and regional food business enterprises engaged in aggregation, processing, distribution, and storage of locally and regionally produced food products.

Longfellow Creek Neighborhood Path for 24th Ave SW

The Longfellow Creek Neighborhood Path for 24th Ave SW community group will work with a landscape architect to develop a conceptual design to improve the road right-of-way and create a more intentional Longfellow Creek trail connection along 24th Ave SW between SW Willow St. and SW Graham St in Delridge. This project will also coordinate with a design project and with community partners to reduce flooding, improve drainage, and restore habitat along Longfellow Creek, which runs through the upstream and downstream Seattle Parks and Recreation properties and alongside 24th Ave SW.

Loyal Heights PTA

The Loyal Heights PTA will organize a Welcome Back Party on Tuesday, September 4, 3:30-6:30pm, on the school playground. The event will celebrate the re-opening of the newly renovated school. Neighbors, Loyal Heights businesses and community organizations, new and current school families and alumni all will be invited. There will be community booths, music, sidewalk chalking, cookie-decorating, and other fun activities for kids and adults. Several hundred people are expected to attend.

LTX Space Planning Committee

The LTX Space Planning Committee will lead a process to envision and gather input about the future development of a cultural space for Seattle's Latinx community. Community conversations incorporating arts activities will take place between winter 2017 and fall 2018. A multi-disciplinary planning team including a design professional will report on the findings of the outreach.

Lake City Collective

The Lake City Collective will organize a Mexican wrestling exhibition and end-of-the-year celebration at the Lake City Community Center, 12531 28th Ave NE, on Saturday, December 8, from 5:30pm to 8pm. This will be the first time the sport of Lucha Libre wrestling, deeply rooted in Mexican culture, is performed for the community in North Seattle/Lake City. Over 200 people are expected to attend.
