Projects funded under the Fire category must fall within Chapter 3 of Proposition 4, focused on Wildfire and Forest Resilience. To qualify, projects must meet Section 91520, and include at least one purpose listed in Section 91520(j). Eligible activities may improve local fire prevention capacity, enhance forest health and resilience, or reduce the risk of wildfire spreading from wildlands into populated areas. The California Drought, Water, Parks, Climate, Coastal Protection, and Outdoor Access for All Act of 2018 (Proposition 68) provides funding to award grants to projects that improve a community’s ability to adapt to the unavoidable impacts of climate change; improve and protect coastal and rural economies, agricultural viability, wildlife corridors, or habitat; develop future recreational opportunities; or enhance drought tolerance, landscape resilience, and water retention. Projects that remove significant barriers to steelhead migration and include other habitat restoration and associated infrastructure improvements will be the highest priority.
