Simposio de Muujeres Latinas

The 6th Simposio De Mujeres Latinas (Latina Symposium) will be held on Saturday May 18th from 10:00am-4:00pm on the campus of North Seattle Community College, 9600 College Way North. The theme for this year is Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Strengthening Ourselves Through Our Differences. There will be panel discussions, a keynote speaker and the announcement of Estela Ortega as the winner of the 2019 Manor Unidas Award.

Northwest Share

Northwest Share will be hosting the Diwali Lights of India Festival on November 2, 2024, located at the Armory at Seattle Center, 305, Harrison St from 12pm to 6pm. The festival showcases Arts and culture of India through live music, dance performances, workshops, and various arts and crafts. This family friendly event is free and open to the public.

Amt Up 3D

The first annual Double Dutch Divas Clothes & Coat Drive will take place at the Benefit Playground located at 9320 38th Ave S Seattle WA 98118 on October 30, 2021 from 2 to 7pm. The event includes music, healthy snacks, hot coco, tea and lots of fun.

Dozer Art

Dozer Art will organize a temporary art exhibit at 2507 Beacon Ave S featuring local muralists and painters. An opening event for the exhibit will be held on September 8, 2017 from 5 pm - 10 pm. The free all ages event will feature performance art, music, and food.

Dr. Jose Rizal Park and Bridge Foundation

Dr Jose Rizal Park Empowered Filipina Women project's main objective is to unify and bridging the gap amongst our leaders within our Community, to create awareness of the park's existence to ensure the Preservation, Restoration and Beautification of the said park are being uphold. Uniting resilient Filipina leaders in our community to become Friends of the Dr. Jose Rizal Park, a project of the Seattle Parks and Recreation Dept. On Sunday, May 12th, 2024 at 4:00 PM, the Dr. Jose Rizal Park and Bridge Foundation will be hosting this event at the Filipino Community Center of Seattle.

Dr. Jose Rizal Park Restoration Project

A community and neighborhood gathering to celebrate Halloween for all ages and pet lovers. The event will be held at the Dr Jose Rizal Park located at 1007 12th Ave S Seattle WA 98144 on October 31st, 2021 from 3 to 6pm. The event will promote the iconic park and it's dog park by having a costume contest for kids and dogs, pumpkin carving contest for teens and adults. There will be live entertainment and booths promoting local vendors and the Filipino community as a welcoming host.

Dr. Jose Rizal Park & Bridge Foundation

A community outreach event will be held on Sunday, August 25th from noon to 8:00 pm at Jose Rizal Park, 1007 - 12th Avenue South. There will be great food, music and conversation. The goal is to educate both local residents and visitors to Jose Rizal Park's origin and namesake. Future plans are to advocate for increased maintenance and improvements at the site.

Phinney Neighborhood Association

D�a de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday honoring the dead with food, drink, and festivities. It's a time to commemorate the dead and celebrate their lives with family and friends. This annual Phinney-Greenwood community event sponsored by the Phinney Neighborhood Association (PNA) will be held on November 5, 2022, from 11am to 3pm. The celebration includes the dedication of a traditional three-tiered ofrenda (altar) for offerings to the deceased, live entertainment, food and drink, and crafts. The event is free and open to the community city-wide.

East African Community Services

The East African Community Services will be hosting "Family Fun Nights & Bun, Shaah & Sheeko": Starting in July 2025 and ending June of 2026. The event will take place on the last Friday of each month at New Holly Gathering Hall located at 7054 32nd Ave S. The East African Gathering is a community-driven cultural initiative designed to foster intergenerational engagement, cultural preservation, and cross-cultural connections. Hosted at the SHA Gathering Hall at New Holly, these events will create a welcoming space where families, elders, and diverse community members can come together to celebrate East African traditions. The event is free and open to the public.

Somali Youth Soccer Association

Somali Youth Soccer Association will outreach and work with East African communities to develop an after-school program starting Dec. The program includes virtual homework help and weekend soccer drills based at 7136 MLK Jr Way S. The last 15 min. of virtual homework help will also be reserved for English as second language parents to network and share resources. The program is free and open to the public and is expected to be two days a week for 2 hours and soccer drills during weekends from April to June 2021.

Eritrean Community in Seattle & Vicinity

The Eritrean Community will host a neighborhood block party on Tuesday, August 28th from 4:00pm-9:00pm. The celebration will take place on two blocks surrounding the Community Center: E. Spruce between 24th and 25th Avenue, and on 24th Avenue between E. Spruce and E. Alder streets. The event will include Eritrean and American food, fun activities for kids, entertainment including the Eritrean Dance Group and NW Tap Connection, a DJ, face painting and henna artists, and much more. The primary goal of the event is to create a stronger, more connected neighborhood and to begin a discussion among community members on potential improvements to the Center.

Eastlake P Patch

Eastlake P Patch will replace deteriorating wooden garden infrastructure and widen paths at the Eastlake P Patch in the fall of 2016 and spring of 2017. Work will be done by community volunteers under the guidance of volunteers donating their professional expertise in construction management. Improvements will be vetted with the entire garden community via community meetings, email, phone, and posting of information and surveys at the garden and in gardener?s boxes.

Amigos De Seattle

Amigos de Seattle will organize a series of family-oriented workshops about Guatemalan culture, history, and peoples. Workshops will feature folkloric performances and cultural exchange and be held in early 2017 at the South Park Community Center. This project will unite members of the diverse Guatemalan community in the Seattle area along with people interested in experiencing Guatemalan cultural expression.

Department of Justice — BJA

Formula grants to state and local governments for a broad range of criminal justice programs including law enforcement, prosecution, courts, prevention, and corrections.

Seattle Housing Authority

On Saturday June 15th from 9am to 3pm The Eid Youth Celebration will take place at 4410 29th Ave S in Rainier Vista. The celebration is a youth-led community building event to honor neighbors of Muslim faith and enhance understanding and mutual respect among neighbors of different cultural backgrounds and faiths. The event is free and open to the public.

El Centro de la Raza

The El Centro de la Raza(ECDLR) located at 2524 16th Ave S will replace the outdated boiler control system, the thermostats and the fan motor system. These improvements will provide the community with updated facilities for community gatherings and event activities.

Association of Beloved Communties

Association of Beloved Communities will capture the history of Seattle's El Centro in a fifteen minute film. It will share the inspiring story of the formation and legacy of this iconic institution, where a small nonviolent movement won a victory for justice. The video will be shot in summer 2019 and final product be distributed through media partners and select events focused on inclusive ecosystem-building strategies.

Duwamish Valley Affordable Housing Coalition

This project seeks to address housing issues partnering with the community, and creating two cohorts of learning and action called Pláticas (Talks), focusing on the low-income and Spanish-speaking populations of the Duwamish Valley. The cohorts will meet on a monthly basis for an estimated 5-month each. The anticipated project completion date is 11/30/2022.

Dr. Jose Rizal Park and Bridge Foundation

To elevate the Dr. Jose Rizal Park projects, we will have a series of events in the Park from June to December. These events are open to the General Public and Free.

Velocity Dance Center

We propose a weekend of free community performances that are created by and for Black communities hosted in May 2025 at Kubota Garden in South Seattle. ?Elysium - Leviticus or Love and to walk amongst HUMANS: Book II?, is a site-responsive performance that leads audiences through a journey of death and revival to find themselves in a world where Black bodies are the blessed and dying to oneself is a rite of passage. Conceived and shaped by dani tirrell, choreographers Nia-Amina Minor, Quynn Johnson, Cyrah Ward, keyes wiley, and Majinn and performed by a cast of 20 local artists, this project is a celebration of the cultural practices of many overlapping identities held by the creators: the rituals of Black religious communities, Black LGBTQ+ nightlife practices like House and Club dance, and the power of gathering outdoors and sharing art together. The work will serve as a chance for Black communities to create and witness an arts event in an outdoor garden in their own neighborhood.

Gay City Health Project

The Emerge Arts Showcase offers emerging performance-based artists production and artistic mentorship and support alongside business and sustainability training. This framework will create a festival that is informed by, and seeks to address, artists' access to health and sustainability (as measured by social determinants of health) alongside artistic development and production. The anticipated project completion is August 31, 2022.

University Heights Center

The University Heights Center located at 5031 University Way NE is sponsoring a free concert by Mikey Mike - The Rad Scientist on Jan 12, 2019 from 3-4 p.m. Mike's performances are designed to delight and educate kids about the wonders of science. We will use this opportunity to include educational booths from 1:30 - 5:30 p.m. to educate the public about our soon-to-be Emergency Communication Hub box and encourage them to take steps to prepare their families and their businesses to weather a disaster. This project will be completed by April 30, 2019.

Seattle Emergency Hubs

On June 7th, the Seattle Emergency Hubs Network will be hosting a Emergency Hub community gathering at El Centro de la Raza located at 2524 16th Ave S. from 10am to 5pm and welcome the Beacon Hill community to learn how emergency hubs work and participate in scenario exercise. SEHN plan to have interpreters on site and also a photographer and a video booth to document the event. The hope is to capture the spirit and inclusiveness of the day's gathering for use in outreach materials. The event is free and open to the public.

Emergency Communication Hubs - Seattle

Building inclusive relationships and connecting our communities to be more resilient is the goal of this grant. We will stand up four additional emergency hubs, translate our hub brochure and two videos into multiple languages to facilitate our outreach, and make our 2021 outreach events accessible through interpreters. This project will be completed by November 30, 2021.
