This dissertation research studies the impacts of wildlife programs on the management of rangelands. The research findings contribute to the scientific understanding of the effectiveness of the governance and economic structures of wildlife management programs. In addition to providing training for a graduate student in anthropological science and collaborative anthropological methods, the research contributes to public knowledge about scientific validated techniques of rangeland management. To investigate the impacts of wildlife programs on communities, the research collects data using qualitative methods including semi-structured interviews, oral history interviews, behavioral observations, and archival analyses. The research contributes to environmental and economic anthropology, and land and resource management studies. This award reflects NSF's statutory mission and has been deemed worthy of support through evaluation using the Foundation's intellectual merit and broader impacts review criteria.
