Phinney Neighborhood Association
The Phinney Neighborhood Association's `Artistic Signal Box` aims to strengthen community identity and provide shared cultural landmarks by transforming functional infrastructure into compelling public art, celebrating diversity and enriching the urban environment in the PhinneyWood area (i.e. Phinney Ridge and Greenwood). The project will also provide visibility for emerging and BIPOC artists to showcase their talents and connect with the community. Nineteen artists, selected through a juried process with community input, will design artwork for 19 SDOT signal boxes. The theme, `Wander PhinneyWood,` invites artists to explore the area's uniqueness, highlighting personal and collective connections. The completed artworks will create a connected experience, encouraging exploration of local landmarks, green spaces, and businesses along the route.
