Queen Anne Greenways
Organized by Queen Anne Greenways (QAG), Queen Anne Playstreets take place on July 20 and August 17, 2023. QAG is a volunteer group of citizens dedicated to creating safe streets for walking and biking. The Playstreets are a community collaboration developed by QAG in association with the Queen Anne Farmers Market, local merchants, SDOT and Queen Anne Community Center, a collaboration which clearly supports its mission. The Playstreet shuts off a portion of First Ave. W. between W. Crockett (the location of the Farmers Market) and W. Howe streets for two Thursday afternoons of family fun. The Playstreets include opportunities for infants, toddlers, youth, teens and adults to have a fun, safe time in the street. Activities include toys, games, button making, dancing to live music, dining and community conviviality. The closed street and accompanying activities underscore the idea that people can and should enjoy the public right of way safely.
