About This Grant

The Rainier Beach community is planning landscaping improvements to Waters Avenue South. The project will be managed by the Waters Median Project. The Rainier Beach Community Club will be the fiscal sponsor. This project will build on the successful first project phase completed in 2022, and second phase completed in early 2023. These previous phases planted a garden at the neighborhood entrance, and then installed trees along the middle of the median. This project phase is to add a large community garden at the south end of the median. This will involve removing invasive plants and weeds along a section of the median that is approximately 300 feet long and six feet wide, and then landscaping the area with site-appropriate waterwise plants. This phase of the project will also improve community outreach and engagement for our growing organization. We will make metal signs for the median, and launch a project website to publicize the project and encourage community involvement.
